"We just wanted to say a huge huge thank you for throwing such a fantastic event for us last night. We have had lots of thank you messages and kind words from the various participants, largely down to your superb organisation and endless patience! And (more importantly) the team here loved it!"
"Tom and his team have hosted hugely enjoyable events for us this year delivering a wonderful mix of professionalism, humour and education for our clients. Tom’s knowledge of his subject combined with his charm creates an air of comfort in the room such that our clients relax, engage, learn a thing or two and have a fabulous time."
Liquid Assets – An Investment in Pleasure
Wine investment has become one of the most significant alternative markets and now millions are spent annually securing allocations of the most rare and rated Chateaux. Although a return on your investment is highly probable – can you really bear to part with your beloved cases..!
Wine, like art, is a tangible asset and one which, whatever happens to its market value, will always have personal value as an investment in your pleasure.
Holland and Holland Shooting Grounds
Established in 1880, Holland & Holland’s Shooting Grounds, just 17 miles from Central London, is set in 100 acres of woodland and open countryside. Long-known for its unrivalled facilities for the sporting gun, it was relaunched in Summer 2019, after an extended period of renovation - complete with cinematic range, bar and terrace, lounge, banqueting suites, Bordeaux Room and Cigar Lounge to become one of the UK’s premier destinations.
Enjoy an unrivalled day in the English countryside: Shooting, Champagne, fine food and mature Bordeaux, whisky flights and cigars, all just 40-minutes from Mayfair.
A mildly irreverent, but highly practical session teaching you how to navigate around restaurant’s wine menus. Salient points are illustrated by accompanying wines in this essential and failsafe guide for impressing your clients, and any potential father-in-law.
Like a respectable golf handicap, it shouldn’t be a necessary social skill – but it is.
Drink like Bond
“I like my drinks very strong, very large and very well made” – declares 007 in Casino Royale, Ian Fleming’s first book in the hugely successful franchise. Honest Grapes invite you to a bibulous journey through the iconic spy’s top-end drinks cabinet, featuring a selection of his preferred tipples from both literature and film.
Drinks options include starting with the famous Vesper Martini, then moving through to one or a selection of 007’s favourite Champagnes (Taittinger Comtes de Champagne, Dom Perignon, Bollinger Grande Annee), via Sake (served at the correct temperature of course, in You Only Live Twice); a nod to the one wine he famously does not drink (Chianti – in From Russia with Love) then on to classic clarets: Ch. Mouton Rothschild, Ch. Angelus and Ch Batailley. Finish with an 1848 Oloroso Sherry or 18 year old Scotch. An evening guaranteed to leave you not shaken but stirred.
Sabraging & Truffle Hunting
A unique excursion to the heart of Hampshire to sample one of the stars in the UK’s fine wine firmament, Coates and Seely, before indulging in a spot of truffle hunting and a delicious lunch with paired wines.
Start the day with a tour of the vineyard and winery followed by a sabraging demonstration and tasting of their critically acclaimed English sparkling wines. From there we will make the short journey to Cottonworth Farm, whose surrounding lands are rich in black truffles and where James Liddell and Rudi “the wonderhound” will help you unearth these rare and expensive delicacies.
Laden with the spoils of the hunt we then head for a truffle-rich lunch nearby, paired with fine wines from Piedmont, appropriately the truffle capital of the world.
A little of what you know and plenty of new discoveries for all as the classic regions of France go head to head against their distinguished but more exotic counterparts from Northern Italy.
Select from pairings such as Franciacorta vs Champagne, Alto Adige Chardonnay vs Chassagne Montrachet, Barolo vs. Gevrey Chambertin, Trentino or Friuli Cabernet or Merlot vs. Bordeaux, and Chateauneuf-du-Pape vs. Amarone.
We blind taste them and compare and contrast styles and history. More exciting than your standard New World vs Old World comparison and a fun competitive event for wine aficionados and novices alike.
