- Trentino, Italy
Cadello has blown our mind. Its creation was inspired by the question of what the Venetian nobles would have served at their masked balls during the peak of the Venetian Empire.
It's made from 8 ingredients from Italy and from places along the Old Silk Route and produced by a 150 year-old, family owned distillery in the Valle dei Laghi, north of Lago di Garda in Trentino, not far from the famed vineyards of San Leonardo.
The master distillers select the highest quality sources for each ingredient and then infuses each of them separately for the appropriate amount of time. Once the infusion process is complete, each ingredient is individually distilled. The ingredients are then carefully blended and aged in French oak barrels. Cadello’s long, 50 second finish unveils flavours of coffee, chocolate, cocoa, star anise and vanilla, with hints of hazelnut, mint, caramel and toffee.
Sexy, nuanced, incredibly smooth (yet complex) on its own, it also mixes well in various cocktails. Think Sazerac… “Italian Nail”… Espresso Martini… and we have found that it also works brilliantly mixed with Fisher's Gin.
‘It’s complex, unique flavour, blends coffee, chocolate, star anise and vanilla, hints of caramel, hazelnut, mint and toffee. All the ingredients are infused in grain alcohol and then distilled separately, before being carefully blended into French Oak barrels with coffee beans, to age into a deep smooth liqueur. A serious after dinner treat.’ The Malestrom
‘Cadello is perfectly smooth and can be simply enjoyed on its own to allow a full sensory experience of the flavours mentioned above. A liquor that is pleasing at any time of the day, Cadello works well as an aperitivo, digestivo and a delicious addition to any cocktail.’ The Beer Brewer
